Mr. Joe E. Elam was born March 14, 1948, in Selmer, TN., to the late Floyd "Doe" Dolphins and Nellie Elam. Mr. Elam departed this life on May 26th, 2025, at his residence in Selmer, TN., at the age of 77. Mr. Elam was of the Baptist faith and the owner of Elam's Garage in Selmer, TN. In his younger years, Joe spent his life overseas as a "shrimper". Mr. Elam enjoyed the simple things in life, such as dancing and spending time with his precious loved ones, most importantly, his granddaughter, Shelby, and great granddaughter, Willow, as well as special nephew, Austin "the Giant". Those left to cherish his memories are his daughter, Tammy (Phillip) Forsyth of Selmer, TN.; his granddaughter, Shelby (Wesley) Cotner; a great granddaughter, Willow Cotner; as well as a host of extended family and friends. Mr. Elam is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: James, Gerald, and A.W. Elam; one sister, Linda Elam; two nieces, two nephews, and two great-great nieces. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
