Obituary

Rodney Gregory Arnold, age 67, was born on February 27, 1959, to the late Jerry Lee and Bertha Mae Arnold. He departed this life on July 3, 2026, at Jackson General Hospital. Rodney attended Paul G. Caywood and Lexington High School, where he excelled on the basketball court. He was a proud member of the 1976 Lexington High School men’s basketball team that finished as State Runners-up with an outstanding 32-1 record. The friendships and brotherhood forged during that unforgettable season remained a cherished part of his life. He worked for Beech Lake Watershed Development Authority until he became disabled. He shared a loving marriage with Joy Taylor, whose love and companionship were a treasured part of his life. Family was the cornerstone of Rodney’s life. He cherished spending time with his loved ones, whether fishing, grilling, or simply enjoying the company of family and friends. Rodney never met a stranger. He was known for his infectious laugh, engaging conversations, and larger-than-life personality. Always the life of the party, he had a way of making every gathering more memorable. His fun-loving spirit and unforgettable presence earned him the fitting nickname, “Wildman.” 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerry Lee and Bertha Mae Arnold, two brothers, Jerry Arnold and Monty Arnold, and grandson, Kartlon Arnold. He is survived by his loving wife, Joy Arnold, daughters, Chovonne (Mackesha) Harris, of Indianapolis, IN, Sheteka Arnold of Memphis TN, Terri (Bianca) Robinson of Conyers, GA, Vanessa Johnson of Moultrie, GA; sons, Octavius (Tiwanna) Arnold of Nashville, TN, Justin Arnold of Memphis, TN, Aaron Taylor of Lexington, TN; brothers Larry (Mary) Arnold, Aubrey (Janice) Arnold, Darryle (Jeannie) Arnold all of Lexington, TN and Lewis (Orkanella) Arnold of Clarksville, TN; sisters Sharon (Shell) Carver, and Sandra Croom of Lexington, TN; sisters-in-law: Dian Arnold, Renee Thompson, Bobbie Delk, Tracey (Robert) Bell, Trina Taylor all of Lexington, TN, and Felecia Thomas of Jackson, TN; brother-in-law Tim Taylor of Cleveland, OH; mother-in –law: Emma Jean Stanford; grandchildren and great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 11th, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 2:00 p.m., at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Lexington, TN. Burial will follow at Lexington City Cemetery in Lexington, TN.
